Well, here we go again ...
Four years ago we took our first trip to Europe, spending three weeks traveling by planes, trains, ship, and car. It was a thrill traveling: by train visiting cities in Italy (Rome, Venice and Milan); by train visiting cities and villages in Switzerland (Interlaken, Lauterbrunnen, Wengen, and Basel); by ship cruising the Rhine River visiting cities in France (Colmar, Rheinquist, Strasbourgh), Germany (Heidelburgh, Koblenz, Cologne), and the Netherlands (Amsterdam); by fast train from Amsterdam to Paris and then renting a car and spending some time driving in the beautiful Loire Valley viewing the royal chateaus of France. If you're interested in learning more about our European trip, check out our blog at www.kathyrondeweurope@blogger.com.
We wanted to visit Great Britain and Ireland on that trip ... but knew adding another week or two to the trip was probably not possible (i.e., time and money) ... and besides, it really would not be enough time to explore the two countries. So, about a year ago, we began our planning for a trip to Great Britain and Ireland. To be politically correct, we're traveling to the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, or United Kingdom, or simply the UK; and, the Republic of Ireland. The UK is comprised of England, Wales, Scotland, and Northern Ireland.
As we commenced developing a timeline for this trip, it quickly turned into a five-week adventure (just like our European trip planning) ... and just like the European trip, we needed to shorten the trip for the same reasons. We plan on seeing as much as possible in three weeks. We enjoy independent traveling ... so we're flying into London (Heathrow Airport), renting a car, and driving throughout the UK and Ireland ... saving the last four days of the trip for enjoying London.
We invite you to share our adventure ... hope you can make it!
So glad the clouds followed you across the pond....AWESOME pics
